At just 22 years old, Angad Bir Singh has already made a name for himself in the world of hockey. The young striker from Chandigarh is an important part of the Kalinga Lancers lineup of forwards, bringing with him a story of hard work and dedication that inspires both teammates and fans alike.

Angad’s journey to success is far from conventional. Unlike many of his peers, he didn’t rise through the ranks of the renowned Chandigarh Hockey Academy and instead focused on practising alone for many long hours. It was during one of these solo sessions that fate intervened, as former international player Deepak Thakur spotted Angad’s raw talent and offered him a chance to join a professional hockey team.

This opportunity proved to be the turning point in Angad’s career. His performances caught the eye of national selectors, eventually leading to his selection for the Indian squad in the 2022 Sultan of Johor Cup. However, it was during the Junior Asia Cup that Angad truly shone. In a moment that will be etched in the memories of Indian hockey fans, he scored the opening goal in India’s 2-1 victory over Pakistan in the final.

His ability to perform under pressure, evidenced by his crucial goal against Pakistan and his Player of the Match performance against Thailand in the Junior Asia Cup, makes him a standout player.
