One of India’s youngest Arjuna Awardees at the tender age of 21, Dilpreet Singh has already established himself as a key part in India’s hockey resurgence. Expect him to do the same for the Kalinga Lancers, charting a path filled with umpteen glories for the team.
Born in the village of Butala, Amritsar, Dilpreet Singh was born to play hockey, learning his first tricks under the able guidance of his father, Balwinder Singh, a former hockey player himself. Later on, he got enrolled at the famed Surjit Academy in Jalandhar, where he was noticed for his flawless temperament and energetic stickplay, and the rest, as they say, is history, as he formed part of the Indian Men’s Hockey team that won a medal at the Olympics after a gap of 46 years.
A prolific goal scorer, Dilpreet Singh is known for dominating the front half, weaving in quick moves to hassle and overwhelm the opposition’s defense. Fluid, dynamic, and impactful, Dilpreet is always animated on the turf, hunting out opportunities relentlessly to truly create that impact. And he has already made his presence felt at the FIH Hockey Pro League, playing a prominent role in ensuring that his teams always finish in the top 4 in the table in the last 3 seasons.
More than his prowess with the stick, Dilpreet also brings to the plate a truly committed and hard-working mindset, one that is definitely expected to make that difference in the locker room. Known for his focus on fitness, Dilpreet is often credited with enhancing the overall fitness of the Indian team, and he can be expected to do the same for the Kalinga Lancers, powering a disruptive culture of performance and wins.
