“Hockey has always been about striving to be my best at something I love. It’s a pursuit that keeps me motivated and grounded.”
Born in England on December 14, 1992, Nikolas Kimon Bandurak, also known as Nick Bandurak, lived and loved the game of hockey. Since a young age, he possessed a competitive instinct and immense talent for the game. Growing up in England provided him with the right kind of opportunities to play for many domestic teams at different ages. The exposure provided him with expertise and set him up for future success abroad.
Making his senior England debut at a young age during the FIH Pro League in February 2022 and against the Spanish team marked the first step towards success. Following that, he continued to shine in the Commonwealth Games and even won a bronze medal as England’s top scorer in the tournament.
Nick Bandurak‘s domestic prowess with hockey transitioned to a place on the Great Britain squad, debuting against the Netherlands in Argentina. While competing for England, he gained further recognition by scoring goals in tournaments like the World Cup, European Championship, and Commonwealth Games which helped Great Britain qualify for the Paris Olympics 2024.
Equally impressive has been Nick’s career with the sporting clubs. After a great start with Cannock, he made his way to Holcombe where he strengthened his game. Then he moved to East Grinstead in 2024, where he played in the England Men’s Hockey League Premier Division. Currently, he is a midfielder with the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers, competing in the Hockey India League.
Nick accepts the hardships and sacrifices that an elite-level sporting career brings as part of his life. He is however motivated by his domestic life and the balance it brings to him.
To Nick, hockey is beyond the game, it is a philosophy of life that guides him. Goals, matches, and every accolade are milestones in this journey filled with passion and growth. Nick’s life is one of hard work, raw talent and faith that sports can and does make a difference.
