Vedanta Kalinga Lancers stars impress for India at Azlan Shah Cup 2025
~ Sanjay, Dilpreet and Rabichandra reflected on team India’s campaign ~
Bhubaneswar, December 4, 2025: Three of Vedanta Kalinga Lancers’ star players, Sanjay, Rabichandra Singh Moirangthem, and Dilpreet Singh, featured prominently in the recently concluded Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025, representing India with distinction. With senior players rested for the tournament, Vedeanta Kalinga Lancers drag-flicker Sanjay was appointed captain for the first time and led the Indian side throughout the marquee invitational event. India finished as runners-up after a narrow 1-0 loss to Belgium in the final.
The tournament, held in Ipoh, Malaysia, concluded on November 30, 2025. India impressed fans with their attacking intent, scoring consistently throughout the tournament. Sanjay led from the front with three goals, while also guiding a young Indian squad with great composure and tactical acumen.
Congratulating the Indian team, Rajiv Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium, said, “Many congratulations to India on winning silver at the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2025. Reflecting on his captaincy, Sanjay said, “Playing for India is always a matter of immense pride, and being named captain was an incredible honour. I’m proud of how we performed as a team. Missing out on the title was tough, but we gave our best throughout the tournament.”
Sanjay also spoke about how the experience will help him in the Hockey India League, saying, “Leading the national team has boosted my confidence and sharpened my decision-making. Playing in the Hockey India League with Vedanta Kalinga Lancers, alongside and against some of the world’s best, has also elevated my game. I’m excited for the upcoming season and committed to giving my best for the franchise.”
Forward Dilpreet Singh described the tournament as “a great learning experience and a memorable journey. I wish I could have scored more, but the environment and team spirit were truly rewarding. We now head to the South Africa tour, and then I’m excited for the HIL season.”
Rabichandra Singh Moirangthem added, “Playing for India is always special. At the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, I could feel my game improving with every match. I want to carry that momentum forward and bring my best to the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers in the Hockey India League.”
All three players continue on national duty and are part of India’s squad for the upcoming practice series against South Africa.
