About Aran Zalewski

Born on March 21, 1991, in Margaret River, Western Australia, Aran Zalewski grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of the land, but it was the hockey field where his true calling emerged. From his first stick in junior hockey to captaining one of the world’s most formidable teams, his journey is a testament to relentless dedication and unshakable resolve.

Aran’s rise began at Aquinas College in Perth, where his raw talent was shaped into the precision and control that would define his game. His international debut came in 2011, representing the Kookaburras against India, where he not only held his ground but made his mark with a crucial goal. This was just the beginning of a career that would set benchmarks for midfield dominance.

A three-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist (2014, 2018, 2022) and FIH Pro League Player of the Tournament in 2019, Aran became the backbone of Australian hockey. His leadership reached its pinnacle when he captained the Kookaburras to a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, a campaign that showcased not just his skill but his ability to inspire and unite a team under pressure.

But Aran’s achievements aren’t confined to the turf. With a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University, he has built a life off the field as a senior consultant with Deloitte. This balance of sporting excellence and professional acumen reflects a drive to excel in every facet of life.

Now, Aran embarks on a new chapter with the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers in the Hockey India League. Bringing his wealth of experience, precision, and vision, he is set to elevate the Lancers to new heights. For fans, this is a chance to witness a player who doesn’t just play hockey – he defines it.

From the fields of Margaret River to the biggest stages in international hockey, Aran Zalewski has never settled for the ordinary. With every pass, every tackle, and every move, he carries the spirit of a leader who knows that the game is more than just a sport—it’s a chance to inspire greatness. And now, with the Lancers, he’s ready to create moments that will live on long after the final whistle.
