David John is originally from Australia and his association with Indian hockey began in 2011 when he joined as the exercise physiologist for the national men’s team. His expertise and passion for the sport led to him becoming the High-Performance Director of Hockey India, where he played a pivotal role in optimising player performance and preparing teams for international success.

As the Strategy Director for the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers, David is poised to reshape the franchise’s trajectory with his strategic approach to team development, which combines technical expertise with physical preparation and mental toughness. His methodologies have been critical in elevating the performance standards of players at global tournaments. Through his strategic acumen in designing match strategies and onboarding top talent, he will oversee post-season reviews and develop a forward-thinking team.

David John is particularly enthusiastic about the upcoming Hockey India League 2024, marking a significant return for the tournament after a seven-year hiatus. His vision is to blend the team’s technical skills with a tactical mindset, creating a team capable of achieving extraordinary success.
