About Gursahibjit Singh

Gursahibjit Singh was born in Gurdaspur district, Punjab. He was introduced to hockey by his uncle Shamsher Singh and under his guidance, Gursahibjit became deeply connected to the sport.

At 11, Gursahibjit Singh joined the Surjit Hockey Academy in Jalandhar after spending three years in a residential hockey academy near Batala. In 2018, Gursahibjit earned a place in the Sultan of Johor Cup squad. Representing India U-21 at the Sultan of Johor Cup, Gursahibjit showcased his potential, scoring critical goals and proving his skills on an international stage. 

In 2019, Gursahibjit Singh made his senior debut at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup against Japan. Despite the initial pressure of competing at the highest level, his adaptability and teamwork shone through. That year, he also scored in the final of the FIH Series Finals as India defeated South Africa 5-1, taking a significant step toward qualification for the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Gursahibjit’s journey from Gurdaspur to the international hockey arena reflects his hard work and determination. With his speed, accuracy, and ability to perform under pressure, he has cemented his place in the Indian forward line.

As a key member of the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers, he continues to contribute with his dynamic gameplay, showcasing the skills and focus that have defined his career so far.
