About Moriangthem Rabichandra

Born in Moirang, Manipur, Rabichandra Singh Moirangthem’s grew up in a modest household. He faced numerous challenges, including the loss of his father in 2016. Despite facing adversity, his passion for hockey never wavered. His elder brother, Debid Singh, also a state hockey player, stepped up to support the family by joining the Indian Army.

Rabichandra Moirangthem was introduced to hockey at the age of 10 during a coaching camp at the All Moirang Hockey Association. His natural talent and determination soon caught the eye of coaches, earning him a spot at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) training centre in Imphal in 2012. After honing his skills there for four years, he joined the National Hockey Academy in Delhi, setting the stage for a bright future.

His junior international debut came at the Sultan of Johor Cup in 2017, followed by an impressive stint at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, where he scored four goals and helped India secure a silver medal. Rabichandra continued to shine, representing India in the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup in 2021.

Rabichandra’s senior debut was a milestone moment in his journey, as he represented India in the FIH Pro League against Argentina in March 2022. Since then, he has been a key part of the Indian squad, playing in multiple Pro League seasons and contributing to India’s gold medal win at the inaugural Hero Hockey5s Championship in Lausanne in June 2022.

Off the field, Rabichandra’s resilience and dedication have earned him accolades, including a three-year scholarship from the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB). He continues to inspire aspiring sportpersons in his home state of Manipur, where his achievements are celebrated as a source of pride.

As a midfielder for the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers, Moirangthem Rabichandra brings his sharp skills, tactical awareness, and unyielding determination to the team. His journey is a testament to the sheer willpower and the transformative role of sports in shaping lives.
