Mukesh Toppo is a talented Indian field hockey player who has been making waves in the sport with his impressive skills and dedication. Born and brought up in Sundargarh, Odisha, with meagre resources he pursued his passion for hockey at a very young age, playing at the grassroots level, honing his skills, and eventually achieving a spot on the Indian national team.

His perseverance and hard work set him out to achieve something bigger than where he was while learning and playing hockey. He made a significant breakthrough by learning how to motivate himself to reach greatness and become a skilled hockey player.

Mukesh Toppo participated in numerous games for his team, first for Hockey Odisha and later for the junior men’s Hockey Association of Odisha, India. Placing all of his effort and passion into each game he played, his efforts were rewarded when he assisted the team in winning multiple competitions and awards, which attracted the selectors’ attention.

As a midfielder, Mukesh has consistently demonstrated his ability to score crucial goals and create scoring opportunities for his teammates. Defending against him is a nightmare for opposing teams because of his speed, agility, and stickwork. Mukesh’s joining the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers is a new milestone in his professional career.

A versatile player who can play in various positions, his impressive performances have earned him recognition and praise, including selection to the Indian national team for various international tournaments. With his talent, dedication, and passion for the sport, Mukesh Toppo is undoubtedly one of the most exciting young players in Indian hockey today. Most recently, he was part of the Indian squad that won the Men’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2024 in Muscat, Oman.
