Born in Odisha India, Rohit Kullu is considered one of the most promising talents in Indian hockey. With the love for hockey rising in his heart from an early age, Rohit’s journey is one that has borne the fruit of hard work, and the opportunities provided to him through grassroots development programs.

Even though he had the bare minimum exposure to the game during his formative years, fate brought him to the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High-Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar, one of the best hockey academies in the country. It was under the tutelage of the coaches here that he became an all-rounder in defence and midfield.

Rohit Kullu considerably enhanced his game at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, where the selectors noticed his potential. While playing for the Hockey Association of Odisha at the U-19 level, he became known for his composed nature on the ground, awareness of his situation, and ability to read the game.

At the zonal and national levels, Rohit has achieved phenomenal achievements. His first big achievement was when he helped his team earn a silver medal at the 13th Hockey India Sub Junior Men National Championship in Rourkela in 2023 as part of the Hockey Association of Odisha team. This performance set the stage for greater success. At the Khelo India Youth Games held in Chennai in January 2024, Rohit Kullu was responsible for aiding Odisha in claiming their gold medal win. The game was particularly interesting as it saw him playing against very tough young competitors. Continuing his impressive form, he later helped the Odisha U-19 men’s team secure gold at the 2nd Hockey India Junior East Zone Championships at Kolkata in July 2024. As a part of the Vedanta Kalinga Lancer’s defence, Rohit brings his energy and willpower to support the team in the Hockey India League.

Beyond the medals, in Rohit’s life, one can witness a steady process of growth. He remains focused on his goal of participating in the Olympic Games for India in the future, which keeps him committed to the sport while managing both his studies and training. With his rise through the ranks, Rohit Kullu is one name to remember as the future of Indian hockey.
